The three doshas

Three energies, one unique you.

Ayurveda describes everything in nature through five elements, combined in the body as three doshas. Everyone has all three, in their own proportion.

Vataवात

Air and space

You are naturally imaginative, quick-thinking and full of ideas. Vata is the energy of movement: breath, circulation, thought and communication.

Pittaपित्त

Pitta hours: 10 AM–2 PM and 10 PM–2 AM

Kaphaकफ

Earth and water

FAQ

The Dosha assessment, answered

What is Prakriti?
In Ayurveda, Prakriti is your natural constitution: the unique mix of the three doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha, that you are born with. It describes your natural tendencies in body, mind and temperament.
How accurate is an online dosha test?
It gives you a useful indication, not a diagnosis. A qualified Ayurvedic practitioner (vaidya) looks at much more, such as your pulse, history and current state. Answer for how you have been for most of your life, not just recently, for the clearest result.
Prakriti and Vikriti: what's the difference?
Prakriti is your constitution and stays fairly constant. Vikriti is your current state, which changes with season, age, food, stress and lifestyle. Many people use their Prakriti as a guide for daily routines and Vikriti to notice when they're out of balance.
Most people get two doshas. Is that normal?
Yes. Most people are dual-doshic, for example Vata-Pitta or Pitta-Kapha, and a few are tridoshic, with all three close together. The suggestions for your leading dosha are the best place to start.
How do Healy programs fit in?
The Power of Three program group (Healy Evolve and up) includes programs named Vata, Pita and Kapha. With your result we also suggest a few programs from other groups whose themes suit your dosha. They are ideas for a wellness routine, not prescriptions.
Is my result saved?
Only on your own device, so you can see it again next time. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to request a personal routine.
